Twins At The Deadline

Good to be back in T-Mobile Park after that road trip. I was originally planning to go to LA for the Dodgers series but then looked at our history in that stadium and decided the trip would not be fun given high probability of failure. I should have had more faith, as our first win since 2009 there was really spectacular to watch from the couch, and it would have been good to see my friends in the area.

Onto the games!

Went to this one with a friend, it was Margaritaville night, got a sweet Aloha shirt, and my friend said it was "hideous" so my dad got hers. We sat in the 300s.

Real heartbreaker of a game, unfortunately. Fireworks were cool, though. They themed it to historical Mariners plays, instead of the usual music themes. Only downside to that change is it's harder to find an excuse for the moose to run out on in the line of fire to dance for the crowd, which was sorely missed here.

I watched this one from the 200s, with a friend. He had been at Seafair earlier that morning, for some on-the-water concert, and showed up already fairly lit. He made a bunch of friends nearby, and had the whole row betting $5 bills on the Salmon Run and the Hydro Challenge.

Plus, very fun game to watch. Always love a walk-off.

The ride home on the 2 line was pretty busy, looked like folks were arriving for the Ed Sheeran concert at Lumen right as the game was letting out, plus extra for Seafair.

After the game it was announced that Castillo was being traded to the White Sox. Sad to see him go, he's been a rock for the team for years now.

Woke up to the news that the Link had derailed in the International District station after the concert, wild news. Sounds like potentially operator error or equipment failure, but no injuries. My train ended at Judkins Park where a shuttle took us on the remaining route.

Game was fun, 300s again with a friend. They closed the roof in the top of the first, which was a welcome reprieve from the sun. Deeply impressed with Kirby's pitching today, clearly fighting for Luis. Awesome walk-off for Emerson, too.

Link was back at normal operations before the game ended, which is like 16 hours to return to normal ops, excellent work by Sound Transit.

Next Up

Yesterday's day off and this morning have been pretty chill, just doing chores around the house and relaxing. The friend I was going to tonight's game with had to cancel, and given the smoke and the fact that I'm going to be in the stadium through the remainder of the homestand, I'm 50/50 whether I want to go today.

Tigers and then Rays in town through Sunday, plus I have thoughts on a book I just finished, Fractal Noise by Christopher Paolini.

Also, I should probably write about this project I have been fiddling with at some point:
